Support for rivers

Dear Editor:

The Jackson Hole Land Trust’s annual barbeque is always one of the highlights of the summer. This year’s event was even more special thanks to our new U.S. Senator, John Barrasso. To the delight of the 800 people who were there, Senator Barrasso announced his unequivocal support for the bill to designate portions of the Snake River and its tributaries as wild and scenic.

When Senator Craig Thomas died in June, there was some concern that his Snake Headwaters Legacy Act might languish in Congress despite the overwhelming support for it among Teton County residents and businesses. Senator Barrasso deserves our thanks for honoring Craig Thomas’ legacy and the wishes of Teton County residents by pledging to push this bill across the finish line.
